Lansdowne Ski Trip 2013

A fantastic annual fixture in the Lansdowne calendar...

The first Lansdowne Ski Trip was a tremendous success and my thanks to the staff and students who made it possible and contributed so positively to it.

The best set up resort: Risoul

With all the runs coming into town and via your accommodation, being green – it is easy for all levels to ski to the accommodation and into town.

A small village with a French feel and lots of trees! A real alpine atmosphere as opposed to other concrete jungles of resorts and not too big to get lost in or to let younger teenagers to explore in.

It’s essentially a family resort – so ideal for children.

With a self contain area – where our accommodation is – there’s no need to venture a lot further than into town – which is small and friendly anyway – it’s a great way to keep everyone in one place and easy to oversee.

Because we own the accommodation, ski hire shop and bars in the area – we can ensure that everyone knows about your group and you can feel at home knowing that people have been briefed on your trip arriving.

The best set up accommodation set up – Les Melezes

Accommodation is ski in ski out to the slope– no walking anywhere with ski’s, pole’s and all your kit on!

The slope outside the accommodation is also just a 100m or so from the ski lesson meeting point – ideal for beginners and big groups.

All rooms will be situated together.

The supermarket is outside the front door – as is the ski hire shop and bakery!

The main town is a 10 minute walk – so most people stick around the area that the accommodation is located in. It is always possible to go to town - but it stops people wanting to walk in to town in the evenings!

2, 3,4,5 and 6 person rooms – will most likely all be 4 man rooms

Because we own the accommodation we can ensure that we have placed you in the best section of it for your group.

With a ski slope outside the accommodation – there’s a lot of bum boarding fun to be had during the day or at night and this can all be overseen from the restaurants, decking or balconies of accommodation.

The best ski area

It’s not the best ski area in Europe – but for school kids it is ideal.

It’s not too big and it’s great for intermediates and beginners.

Lots of trees - pretty!

The resort itself experiences great snow records at this time of year, the off piste is also incredible for any of your organizers who like to get off the beaten track on your own for an hour…

The resort is high enough to achieve great snow – but not too high to be super cold all the time – resorts such as Val Thorens, Tignes etc are so high that I can’t even ski in them on many days in Jan/feb because it is so cold!

The best lesson set up – with the best ski school

We buy the instructors time and so sort the lesson groups in resort, therefore we manage group sizes and ensure that they are never too big for to all skiers to get good tuition.

We only use ESF – they’re the best in the world some say!

As we buy the instructors time – we can manage the time slots easily for the day: 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon.
The ski school instructors are a very short ski or potter from the accommodation – all on the slopes. The nicest and easiest way to get to ski school and ensures everyone gets there in one piece and together, on time.

The best food package

With a served buffet for breakfast and dinner – it means that no one will be going hungry. Everyone loves having the option of seconds.

Lunch boxes are made at breakfast and can be tailor made to what the kids want.

The best après ski program

There’s and indoor swimming pool under the accommodation – great to use

There’s an ice skating ring in town

As a family friendly resort – on holiday weeks - they often put something fun on in town for the families early evening, before dinner when everyone is off the slopes.

The bum boarding slope outside is always a winner

Having your own room in the accommodation – the dining hall to do ents in is really handy.

The best safety set up

We know all the bars and own the ones below the accommodation – we can ensure that no one is let in – as to get in you must show your wristband. All wasteland clients will be wearing under 18 wristbands to ensure they don’t get into bars. Unless you would like to sort anything for those who are over 18 on the trip?

We are the only company that has a campaign for safety charity in the alps – which is at the heart of what we do. Ensuring that we are always aware of the risks and safety to all our clients – it’s even on our representative jackets.

We have reps that can patrol accommodations and outside at night – ensuring that everyone is getting home ok – any curfews that you might want to set are abided by and if there are any emergencies.

We have 24/7 rep help lines in resort to help sort any issues.

French speaking reps in resort to aid any language barriers!
