Expectations
...mature, responsible and professional attitude...
Lansdowne prides itself on its caring environment, friendly atmosphere and ability to instil self-discipline and a mature, responsible and professional attitude in its students. Lansdowne students are generally very eager to learn and have often left 'school' because they feel they can flourish better in a 'college' atmosphere. They enjoy the College’s friendliness and openness but still expect and value structure and discipline.
The College holds certain expectations relating to students’ academic and personal behaviour and trust that parents/guardians will do their best to help ensure students meet these expectations.
Academic Expectations
Students are required to attend all timetabled classes, Personal Tutor Periods and Exam Practice Periods except in the case of illness or unavoidable commitments elsewhere (in which case the College should be informed in advance). Students are required to attend classes punctually. Attendance and punctuality are closely monitored by Personal Tutors and parents immediately informed of unacceptably low levels
Students must arrive fully prepared for lessons with textbooks, files, pens, paper, calculators, etc. and the Student Handbook should be used to log all homework assignments set.
Homework and assignments should be completed by deadlines set and be done to the best of the student’s ability. Students can, of course, meet with subject tutors outside of class to have lesson material clarified or points further explained to them.
Personal Expectations
Lansdowne aims to foster mutual respect, courtesy and politeness between the student body and between students and staff. Students are required to follow staff instructions in class and any attempt to disrupt classes will not be tolerated. The atmosphere at Lansdowne is friendly and cooperative; however, any instance of bullying will result in serious sanctions.
The Student Handbook and Parent’s Handbook provide full, clear details of what Lansdowne expects from its students.
