"Lansdowne College provides an outstanding quality of education for its students" OFSTED

Economic Sciences & Maths

Developing and applying numerical skills in a variety of contexts is the common thread that connects subjects in the Department of Economic Sciences and Mathematics. Subjects include Economics, Mathematics, Business Studies, Geography and Accounting. All of these subjects are highly popular at Lansdowne, reflecting the outstanding quality of teaching, and the increasing interest shown in them by students. Mathematics is the College’s most popular subject, followed closely by Economics.

Teaching methods combine the best of traditional approaches to teaching and learning with newer methods which put students at the centre of the learning experience. The department fully embraces new technology, and the benefits it can bring to both teaching and learning.

Students are encouraged to develop a wide range of relevant skills, and are challenged to adopt a proactive approach to studying and learning. Small group tuition is especially helpful when it comes to solving individual problems, and in challenging students to achieve the very best they can.

Exam results clearly indicate that our strategy works.
