Duke of Edinburgh Award
...to develop existing skills or acquire new ones...
We are very happy to announce that Lansdowne will be introducing the Duke of Edinburgh Award from September 2011. This is a highly respected scheme and one which is extremely attractive to Universities and future employers. It will allow students, to develop existing skills or acquire new ones while also improving their problem solving and communication skills. The expedition element lends itself perfectly for students to improve their teamwork and leadership skills. The volunteering section gives students a chance to give back to the local community and students can chose from a variety of projects such as conservation, youth work or fundraising for a certain charity.
The cost of the initial training in College will be covered by Lansdowne. The cost of the expeditions will be £390 for Silver award and £790 for Gold award including all the pre-training, lectures, practice expedition and qualifying expedition with qualified D of E leaders. Please click here for details of the proposed expeditions.
We hope that many students will get involved in this new initiative. For more information please see the official website.
